Anyway, let’s get back to the topic of this blog post – overnight oats. This chocolate chia seed overnight oatmeal recipe is super creamy, chocolatey, and delicious. I really think you guys are going to love it. So, let’s go ahead and dive right into a few quick things to note for this recipe. Then, we will go through the list of ingredients you will need to make this quick and easy breakfast recipe a smashing success.

How To Make Vegan Overnight Oats

In order to make vegan overnight oats, you simply need to use a combination of your favorite nut milk, rolled or quick cooking oats, chia seeds, and any other add-ins you’d like. The add-ins will determine the overall flavor of your oatmeal. Some of my favorite add-ins include fresh fruit, pure maple syrup, nut butter, chocolate chips, etc.

For this particular chocolate overnight oats recipe, we will use a mixture of oats, almond milk, cocoa powder, chocolate chips, and pure maple syrup. After you let that mixture set overnight in the refrigerator, you will top your oatmeal off with peanut butter, fresh banana slices, and some more chocolate chips.

The overall process is truly that simple! Once you have let your mixture set overnight in the refrigerator and added your favorite toppings, your oatmeal is ready to enjoy.

Now that we have covered a few quick things to note for this recipe, let’s take a look at the ingredients you will need to make this chocolate chia overnight oatmeal.

Chocolate Chia Overnight Oats – Ingredients

  • Quick Cooking Oats – The first ingredient you will need for this recipe is the quick cooking oats. If you don’t have quick cooking oats, rolled oats should work as well. If you want to make this recipe gluten free, you can use your favorite gluten free oats.
  • Sliced Ripe Banana – The ripe banana slices add sweetness to this oatmeal recipe. They will be added on top of your oatmeal in the morning.
  • Chocolate Chips – The chocolate chips add extra sweetness and chocolate flavor to the recipe.
  • Chia Seeds – The chia seeds act as a binding agent int this recipe. They absorb some of the liquid and help all the ingredients come together to form a thick and creamy overnight oatmeal consistency.
  • Cocoa Powder – The cocoa powder adds that rich chocolate flavor to this recipe. It is a key ingredient that you will need to make this chocolate chia overnight oats recipe a success.
  • Nut Milk – The nut milk is the next key ingredient you will need for this recipe. It is the main source of liquid which will be absorbed by the oats and chia seeds to form a thick and creamy overnight oatmeal consistency. You can use whichever nut milk you have on hand or like best. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk for this recipe.
  • Peanut Butter – Peanut butter is a key topping that adds flavor, texture, and richness to these overnight oats. If you do not like peanut butter or you are allergic to it, you can use another nut or seed butter that you prefer.
  • Pure Maple Syrup – The pure maple syrup adds additional sweetness to this recipe. If you want your oats extra sweet, you can add a bit more into your oatmeal mixture or drizzle some on top of your oats in the morning.
