Cocoa Date Bliss Ball Energy Bites

Good morning everyone! Today I have a super simple recipe to share with all of you. This recipe is also very easy to customize and it is a great snack to have on hand for those days when you are in a rush and need a quick burst of energy. This recipe requires less than ten simple ingredients, and you can also customize your energy bites with optional add-ins if you’d like.

Now, let’s go through a few quick things to note for this recipe. Then, we will take a look at the list of ingredients you will need to make this date bite recipe a smashing success.

Why I Love Date Ball Energy Bites

Energy bites are a snack that I learned how to make in college. Once I discovered how easy they were to make and how delicious they tasted, I couldn’t stop making them.

There are a few key reasons why I love date bites so much. First off, they are incredibly easy to make and they require no baking. You simply throw everything into a high speed food processor, roll your dough into little balls, and then enjoy your date bites! Second, they are easy to pack up and take with you on the go. You can throw them into a container and eat them on the way to work, class, etc. They provide a quick burst of energy, which makes them an ideal snack. Next, I love that you can customize these date bites to fit your own personal flavor preferences. I love to add in chopped walnuts, mini chocolate chips, coconut flakes, etc. Finally, I love the texture of these little date bites. They are soft, chewy, and delicious!

Anyway, enough on that. Let’s take a look at the list of ingredients you will need to make these simple and delicious cocoa date bliss balls.

Cocoa Date Bliss Ball Energy Bites – Ingredients

  • Dates – The first ingredient you will need for this recipe are the pitted dates. This should come as no surprise. The dates serve as one of the key base ingredients for this recipe. Dates are naturally sweet and sticky, which makes them perfect for this recipe. They are often referred to as “nature’s candy”, and I would say that description fits them pretty well. You will want to make sure that your dates have the pits removed before you process them. You will also want to soak them in warm water for ten minutes before processing them to make them easier to break down.
  • Rolled Oats – The next ingredient you need for this recipe are the rolled oats. The rolled oats are added to the exterior of the date bites for additional texture and to decrease the overall stickiness of the exterior of the date bites.
  • Cocoa Powder – The cocoa powder gives these bites that rich chocolate flavor. This ingredient pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the dates. A little bit goes a long way. I used Hershey’s special dark cocoa powder. but you can use whichever kind you prefer or have on hand.
  • Almond Butter – The almond butter adds a ton of richness and flavor to the date ball energy bites. It also helps everything stick together nicely. You will want to use a smooth and creamy almond butter for this recipe.
  • Water – The water is added to this recipe to aid blending and help all the ingredients come together.
  • Add-ins – There are many different ingredients that you can add to your date mixture for extra flavor, sweetness, etc. The add-ins are completely customizable so you can choose what you want depending on your preferences and personal taste. Some of my personal favorite add-ins include chopped walnuts, mini chocolate chips, shredded coconut flakes, and chia seeds.
