Easy Fresh Homemade Salsa

Good morning friends! Today, I am so excited to share my easy and fresh chunky homemade salsa recipe. This is my go-to salsa recipe because it comes together so quickly. All you have to do is throw everything into your food processor and pulse until you get your desired consistency. It really is that simple.

Not only is this recipe easy to make, but it also pairs well with so many different things. First off, you can enjoy the salsa as a dip for your favorite tortilla chips. Alternatively, you can use the salsa as a topping for a loaded burrito bowl. Finally, you can add it into some soft tacos for extra flavor.

Now, let’s discuss a few quick things to note for this recipe. Then, we will take a look at the ingredients you will need to make this homemade chunky salsa recipe a smashing success.

What is Fresh Salsa Made of?

Fresh salsa is made of a wide variety of ingredients. You will start with a base of tomatoes, and then add in other veggies for flavor, texture, and color. My favorite add-ins include yellow onion, garlic, and cilantro. Of course, other key ingredients, such as salt and cumin, provide the salsa with even more flavor.

Salsa is one of those foods that is super customizable to your personal preferences. If you don’t like cilantro, you can easiliy omit it. If you aren’t a fan of spice, you can omit the jalapeño pepper. Or, if you are a huge fan of spice, you can add extra jalapeño pepper for an even spicier flavor.

How Do You Make Salsa Easily?

Making salsa quickly and easily is not as difficult as some people might think. If you have a food processor or food chopper, you should be able to make your homemade salsa in a matter of minutes. You simply have to add all of your ingredients to your food processor. Then, you will slowly pulse your salsa, a few seconds at a time, until you get your desired consistency. It’s as simple as that. Just make sure that you don’t pulse too quickly, as doing so might cause you to end up with a thinner consistency than you want.

Now that we have covered a few quick things to note for this recipe, let’s take a look at the ingredients you will need to make this fresh homemade salsa.

Easy Fresh Homemade Salsa – Ingredients

  • Fresh Roma Tomatoes – The first ingredient you will need for this recipe are the fresh roma tomatoes. The tomatoes make up the bulk of the salsa base, so you definitely want to have some fresh and tasty ones on hand to use in this recipe.
  • Yellow Onion – The yellow onion adds a ton of flavor and a bit of crunch to this fresh chunky salsa.
  • Fresh Cilantro – The cilantro adds both color and flavor to this recipe.
  • Jalapeño Pepper – The jalapeño pepper adds a bit of spice to this salsa. Make sure to remove the seeds before adding the jalapeño pepper to your salsa mixture. If you want your salsa very mild, you can omit this ingredient entirely.
  • Fresh Garlic – The fresh garlic adds a ton of flavor to the salsa.
  • Cumin – The cumin adds a nice spice to this homemade salsa. It pairs very nicely with the fresh vegetables.
  • Salt – Salt is added to this homemade salsa recipe for additional flavor. You will adjust this ingredient to taste in order to get the perfect amount.
  • Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes – The diced tomatoes make up the remainder of the tomato base for this salsa recipe. You will want a combination of the tomato chunks and juice from your can of diced tomatoes.
  • Fresh Lime Juice – The fresh lime juice compliments all the other ingredients present in this homemade salsa. It is an essential ingredient that I don’t recommend omitting.
