Single Serve Chocolate Baked Oats For One

Good morning everyone! Today, I am so excited to share my simple and delicious double chocolate baked oatmeal recipe for one. This single serve treat is the perfect healthy breakfast or dessert. Plus, it tastes amazing topped off with peanut butter for extra flavor and richness.

The ingredients list for this chocolate baked oatmeal is short and sweet, and it comes together in just minutes. After you bake it for about 25 minutes, you simply have to let it cool for a bit. Then, it is ready to eat. You can add a bit of pure maple syrup and your favorite nut or seed butter.

Now, let’s go over a few quick things to note for this recipe. Then, we will dive into the list of ingredients you will need to make this recipe a smashing success.

How Do You Make Super Thick Baked Oats?

There is no doubt that a lot of debate surrounding oatmeal comes from the texture of it. Some people can’t stand it, while others absolutely love it. Even so, there are so many different ways you can make your oatmeal, each of which provides it with a unique texture. For extra thick oats, you’ll want to use less liquid. For creamier oats, you’ll want to opt for nut milk over water. For thick, fluffy, cake-like oats, you’ll want to bake your oats rather than cooking them in the microwave or on the stovetop.

If you are trying to make super thick oats, you can definitely do so by using an even ratio of nut milk to oats, blending your mixture up, and popping it in the oven to bake. That is exactly what we will be doing in this recipe to achieve a thick, fluffy, moist baked oatmeal.

Now that we have covered a few quick things to note for this recipe, let’s take a look at the list of ingredients you will need to make this double chocolate baked oatmeal.

Chocolate Baked Oats For One – Ingredients

  • Rolled Oats – The first ingredient you will need for this recipe is rolled oats. If you want your double chocolate baked oatmeal to be gluten free, make sure to use your favorite gluten free rolled oats.
  • Vegan Chocolate Chips – The chocolate chips will be used both in the batter and as a topping for this double chocolate baked oatmeal. The chocolate chips add sweetness and rich chocolate flavor to your oatmeal. You can use whichever kind you enjoy most. I really love the Enjoy Life mini semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • Cocoa Powder – The cocoa powder adds even more rich chocolate flavor to your oatmeal. I used Hershey’s special dark cocoa powder.
  • Baking Powder – The baking powder acts as the key leavening agent for this recipe. It is a simple but necessary ingredient that ensures your oatmeal turns out nice and fluffy.
  • Nut Milk – The nut milk acts as the key source of liquid in this recipe. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk, but you can use whichever kind you have on hand or prefer.
  • Unsweetened Applesauce – The unsweetened applesauce adds natural sweetness and moisture to this recipe. You can easily sub mashed banana if you prefer.
  • Pure Maple Syrup – The pure maple syrup adds sweetness and moisture to your oatmeal batter. If you want your oatmeal even sweeter, you can also add a drizzle of pure maple syrup on top of your oatmeal once it finishes baking.
  • Peanut Butter – The peanut butter is a key topping that adds creaminess, flavor, and richness to your oatmeal.
