Chocolate Cake Brownie Baked Oats
Good morning everyone! Today, I am sharing another baked oatmeal recipe with all of you today. I have been wanting to make a chocolate cake / brownie baked oats recipe for a little while now, and I finally got around to testing and perfecting my own unique recipe.
This recipe requires just a few simple ingredients, and it tastes exactly as I hoped (and imagined) it would. The oats have an ultra fluffy texture, the perfect amount of sweetness, and a rich chocolate flavor. When topped with the nut butter and pure maple syrup, this recipe makes for a delicious and sweet snack or dessert option. After baking the oatmeal batter, you end up with chocolate brownie baked oatmeal for one, complete with rainbow sprinkles on top.
Now, that I have properly introduced this recipe, let’s go over some quick things to note. Then, we will take a look at the list of ingredients you will need to make this chocolate cake baked oats recipe a smashing success.
What Can You Mix With Plain Oatmeal?
There are so many different ingredients you can mix into oatmeal in order to add both flavor and texture. For this recipe specifically, I used a combination of oats, protein powder, and baking powder for the dry base. I also added unsweetened applesauce to ensure the texture comes out light and fluffy every single time. Almond milk is added as the main source of liquid for creaminess. The rainbow sprinkles provide the chocolate brownie baked oats with both color and sweetness.
In general, there are a wide variety of ingredients you can mix with plain oatmeal to achieve your desired flavor. A few of my favorite combinations include peanut butter banana, peanut butter chocolate chip, blueberry almond butter, and vanilla protein berry oatmeal. These are just a few examples of ways you can spice up your oats. I also like to add pure maple syrup for extra sweetness, and nuts for a nice crunch factor.
Now that we’ve covered some things to note, let’s take a look at the ingredients you will need to make this chocolate brownie baked oats recipe a smashing success.
Chocolate Cake Brownie Baked Oats – Ingredients
- Quick Oats – The first ingredient you will need for this recipe is, of course, the oats. I am sure that this ingredient comes as no surprise, but it’s still important nonetheless. It is the key base ingredient that is needed to make these chocolate brownie baked oats.
- Chocolate Protein Powder – The next ingredient you will want for this recipe is the chocolate protein powder. This ingredient adds chocolate flavor as well as a boost of protein. I used the Orgain Simple protein powder in the chocolate peanut butter cup flavor. It adds the perfect amount of chocolate flavor.
- Rainbow Sprinkles – You will also want some rainbow sprinkles for this recipe. The sprinkles add both sweetness and color. You can use whichever ones you have on hand or enjoy most.
- Baking Powder – The baking powder acts as the key leavening agent in this recipe to ensure the baked oatmeal turns out nice and fluffy. This ingredient is very important, so make sure you don’t omit it.
- Nut Milk – You will also want some nut milk for this recipe. The nut milk acts as the key source of liquid in this recipe. It adds a ton of creaminess to the oats. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk, but you can use whichever kind you have on hand or enjoy most.
- Unsweetened Applesauce – The unsweetened applesauce adds moisture and sweetness to this recipe.
- Creamy Peanut Butter – The creamy peanut butter acts as the key topping for this chocolate cake brownie baked oatmeal. I personally love the combination of peanut butter and chocolate. If you’d like, you can substitute another nut or seed butter in place of the peanut butter.
- Pure Maple Syrup – The pure maple syrup is the final ingredient you will add to taste. This ingredient adds flavor, moisture, and sweetness to your baked oats.
