Baked Chocolate Peanut Butter Donut Holes

Good morning everyone! I am so excited to share another donut recipe with you guys today. I already have a few donut recipes on my blog, but none of them are quite like this one. I have actually been trying out a few different variations of an easy, vegan chocolate donut hole recipe over the past few weeks, and I finally got the recipe just right. These donut holes are decadent, chocolatey, and the perfect quick and easy breakfast or snack.

They sneak in some protein, healthy fat, and carbs. Plus, they are made with minimal ingredients and come together quickly and easily. You can enjoy them for breakfast or a mid-afternoon snack, and they will provide you with nutrients and energy to power through the day.

If you like the combination of chocolate and peanut butter, you will probably love this recipe. So, let’s take a look at some quick things to note for this recipe. Then, we will dive into the list of ingredients you will need to make this vegan baked chocolate peanut butter donut hole recipe a smashing success.

Is coconut flour good for baking?

I really enjoy using coconut flour in baked goods. While it’s not necessarily my go to baking flour, I definitely enjoy it as a good gluten free alternative to all-purpose or whole wheat flour. One thing to keep in mind when baking with coconut flour is that it’s super absorbent. Therefore, you don’t need to use as much flour as you normally would in your recipe. If you use the same amount as you typically would, you’ll need way more liquid for the recipe. Fortunately, I’ve taken all the guess work out of this recipe by providing you with the perfect coconut flour to liquid ratio. Now that we’ve covered that, let’s take a look at the full list of ingredients you will need to make these baked chocolate peanut butter donut holes.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Donut Holes – Ingredients

  • Coconut Flour – The coconut flour serves as the dry base for this donut hole recipe. It helps the donuts stick together and achieve the perfect consistency to roll into little donut holes. It is a great gluten free flour that bakes well, but it does absorb liquid quite easily. So, I made sure to use a few ingredients that would add moisture to this donut hole dough.
  • Vegan Chocolate Protein Powder The vegan chocolate protein powder adds sweetness and flavor to these vegan donut holes. I used the Orgain Simple protein powder in the chocolate peanut butter cup flavor, but you can use whichever chocolate protein powder you enjoy most.
  • Truvia Cane Sugar Blend – This ingredient is used to add more sweetness to the donut holes. I used just a little bit of this blend for the perfect amount of sweetness.
  • Cocoa Powder – The cocoa powder adds that classic chocolate flavor to this donut hole recipe. It’s a key ingredient that you definitely don’t want to forget.
  • Unsweetened Applesauce – This ingredient adds a ton of moisture, as well as some natural sweetness to the recipe. It is one of my favorite ingredients to use in vegan baked goods, especially desserts.
  • Creamy Peanut Butter – The creamy peanut butter is an essential ingredient that you will need for this recipe. After all, you can’t have chocolate peanut butter donut holes without the peanut butter. I like to use a natural peanut butter for the more drizzly texture. The one I used for this recipe has just two ingredients – peanuts and salt.
  • Nut Milk – The nut milk adds moisture and creaminess to these vegan baked chocolate peanut butter donut holes. It is the final key ingredient that completes this recipe. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk, but you can use whichever non-dairy milk you have on hand.
