Easy Vegan Hummus Pasta Recipe

Good morning everyone! Today, I am so excited to share a new pasta recipe with all of you. You might have seen a photo of it on my instagram page (@nomeatfastfeet). This vegan hummus “alfredo” pasta recipe is one I have been making for quite some time, even before I transitioned to a fully vegan diet. This pasta recipe is incredibly quick and easy to make, yet it tastes delicious.

Plus, if you are looking to switch out your typical tomato sauce for something different, this is a great one to try. Even my non-vegan friends enjoy it.

I absolutely love to make vegan versions of some of my favorite meals that I used to enjoy eating before I went vegan. One of those dishes was alfredo pasta. And while this hummus pasta is definitely different, it does feel reminiscent of that dish because of how creamy and flavorful it is.

If you are looking for a dairy free alternative to traditional alfredo pasta, this vegan hummus pasta recipe might be just what you need. All of my recipes are made completely dairy-free, so vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike can enjoy them.

Now that we have talked a bit about the recipe, let’s take a look at a few quick things to note, as well as the list of ingredients you will need to make this recipe a smashing success.

Can You Make A Sauce Out Of Hummus?

You can absolutely make a sauce out of hummus. Hummus is one of those insanely versatile dips/spreads that can be used in a wide variety of ways, including on top of pasta.

A few of my favorite ways to utilize hummus include: spreading it on top of toast, using it as a dip for crackers and carrots, adding it to salads and burritos, and turning it into a sauce for pasta.

In order to make a sauce out of hummus, I simple add some key seasonings and coat the pasta evenly in it. You could also thin it down a bit by using water or olive oil, but I prefer to keep it as a thicker sauce for the ultimate flavor and creaminess.

Now that we have covered a few quick things to note for this recipe, let’s jump into the list of ingredients you will need to make this vegan hummus pasta.

Easy Vegan Hummus Pasta – Ingredients

  • Pasta of Choice – The first ingredient you will need for this recipe is your pasta of choice. You can use whichever kind you like. I absolutely love the Banza chickpea pasta, but I’ve also used the hummus sauce with whole wheat pasta and red lentil pasta as well. They all work really well in this recipe.
  • Hummus – The next ingredient you will need for this recipe is, of course, the hummus. You can make your own homemade hummus if you’d like. However, if you’re in a rush, store-bought hummus is perfectly fine. I used the Oasis brand hummus for my pasta dish.
  • Nutritional Yeast Seasoning – Nutritional yeast seasoning is one of my favorite ways to sneak in vitamin B12. I like to sprinkle it on all kinds of different savory dishes, especially pasta. It has a slight nutty/cheesy flavor, and it’s available at most grocery stores. I typically purchase mine at Trader Joe’s.
  • Garlic Powder – The garlic powder adds a ton of flavor to this hummus pasta recipe.
  • Onion Powder – The onion powder is the second key spice you will need for this hummus pasta dish.
  • Paprika – Paprika is the next spice you will want for your hummus pasta.
  • Salt and Pepper – The salt and pepper are the final two ingredients which finish off this hummus pasta dish. You will add these spices to taste.
  • Vegetables of Choice – There are so many different vegetables that pair incredibly well with this pasta dish. Some of my favorites are steamed broccoli and peas. As you can tell from the photos, these are the two veggies I added to my bowl of pasta on the day that I took the photographs for this blog post.
