Easy Homemade Bread With Yeast

Good morning friends! Today, I am so excited to share my easy homemade bread recipe. Recently, I have had a lot of fun making a loaf of fresh homemade bread on Saturday mornings to enjoy all throughout the week. I created a quick recipe that requires less than ten basic ingredients. Plus, I have simplified the process so that there are as few steps as possible.

While making homemade bread from scratch isn’t the easiest process in the world, it is also not as complicated as you might think. With my method, I prep the dough in about ten minutes, spend five minutes kneading the dough, let it rise for about two hours, and then bake it in the oven for 35 – 40 minutes. I end up with a bread loaf that is moist, fluffy, and delicious!

Now, let’s go ahead and cover a few quick things to note for this recipe. Then, we will dive into the full list of ingredients you will need to make this homemade bread.

How Much Yeast Do I Need For 1 Cup of Flour?

For this recipe, I use a little less than 1 tsp of yeast for every one cup of flour. Specifically, I use one cup each of all-purpose flour and whole wheat flour, as well as 1/2 tbsp total of yeast. These ratios turned out to be perfect for this recipe, as I end up with a light and fluffy loaf of homemade bread each and every time.

Of course, every recipe is unique, so you will want to use the amounts specified in whatever bread recipe you choose to follow. The ratios above are simply the ones that I found work well for the specific ingredients and amounts that I use in my homemade bread recipe.

What is the Quick Method for Making Bread?

There are a few different “quick” methods for making bread. I am using quick as a relative term here. My recipe still requires a few hours of rise time for the bread dough. However, the overall process takes much less time than some other homemade bread recipes, which require multiple rounds of rising and kneading. For my recipe, I use instant yeast to cut down the rise time.

Now that we have covered a few quick things to note for this recipe, let’s dive into the full list of ingredients you will need to make this easy homemade bread with instant yeast.

Easy Homemade Bread With Yeast – Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour – The first ingredient you will need for this recipe is the all-purpose flour. Of course, you can’t make homemade bread without some sort of flour. For this recipe, I decided to use a blend of all-purpose flour and whole wheat flour to achieve my ideal bread flavor and texture.
  • Whole Wheat Flour – The next ingredient you will need for this recipe is the whole wheat flour. As I mentioned, I use a combination of all-purpose flour and whole wheat flour for this easy homemade bread recipe.
  • Instant Yeast – The instant yeast is another key ingredient you will need for this recipe to ensure the bread rises nicely. This ingredient helps the bread turn out nice and fluffy. I chose instant yeast as opposed to active dry yeast to reduce the number of steps and total rise time required.
  • Warm Water – The warm water is used to activate the yeast and help form the bread dough. You don’t want the water to be too hot or too cold. Use warm water to ensure that it properly activates the yeast (although, this is more crucial with active dry yeast than instant yeast).
  • Olive Oil – The olive oil adds some moisture and richness to this bread recipe. A little bit goes a long way with this ingredient.
  • Pure Maple Syrup – The pure maple syrup adds moisture, stickiness, and a bit of sweetness to this homemade bread recipe. Once again, with this ingredient, a little bit goes a long way.
  • Himalayan Pink Salt – The salt adds some extra flavor to this homemade bread. I used Himalayan pink salt for this recipe, but you can use whichever kind of salt you have on hand or prefer.
