Vegan Flourless Fudgy Banana Brownies

Good morning friends! Today, I decided to switch things up and share my new favorite fudgy banana brownies recipe. This recipe is simple, delicious, vegan, gluten free friendly, and made with less than ten ingredients. The brownies are full of chocolate and banana flavor. Even better, they bake in about 30 minutes.

I don’t know about you guys, but I love to end each night with something sweet. These chocolate brownies hit the spot every single time, and they taste delicious eaten warm or chilled. They are also ultra fudgy, which I absolutely love.

I go back and forth between liking cakey brownies and fudgy brownies better, but right now I am loving fudgy brownies. I tried making a very simple recipe using ingredients most people already have at home, and it turned out so incredible that I knew I needed to share it on the blog with all of you. If you like bananas and chocolate, I think you will love these brownies.

Now, let’s jump right into some quick things to note for this recipe as well as the list of ingredients you will need to make these vegan, flourless, fudgy chocolate brownies a smashing success.

What Makes These Brownies Fudgy?

One very common question people have regarding brownies in general is how to make them fudgy. With these brownies specifically, I was going for an ultra fudgy texture. So, I made sure to use a vegan fat source in order to achieve that texture. For these brownies, I decided to use peanut butter. Now, I know that some people don’t like (or are allergic to) peanut butter. I used peanut butter because it is one my favorite nut/seed butters in terms of taste, and it is also one of the most accessible. I haven’t tried any allergy friendly subs, but another nut or seed butter would probably work.

Aside from the fat source, you also want to have a lower flour ratio when making fudgy chocolate brownies (as compared to cakey brownies). Fortunately, we don’t have an issue making that happen with this recipe. It is actually completely flourless and also gluten free friendly thanks to the use of oats. Now, let’s go ahead and take a look at the list of ingredients you will need to make these vegan, flourless, chocolatey, ultra fudgy brownies from scratch.

Vegan Flourless Fudgy Brownies – Ingredients

  • Quick Oats – The oats will be blended up and combined with the cocoa powder to form the bulk of the dry base for this recipe.
  • Cocoa Powder – The cocoa powder is absolutely essential to make these flourless chocolate brownies. I used Hershey’s Special Dark cocoa powder for that extra rich chocolate flavor. You can use whichever kind you prefer.
  • Bananas – The bananas are another key ingredient you will need for this recipe. They will be mashed and added to your brownie batter for sweetness and moisture. Make sure to use ripe or overripe bananas for optimal sweetness.
  • Miniature Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips – The mini semi-sweet chocolate chips are used as a crucial topping and mix-in for the brownies. They add a ton of sweetness and chocolate flavor to the brownies, so they should not be omitted.
  • Peanut Butter – The peanut butter is used to add flavor, moisture, and a source of fat to the brownies to ensure they turn out nice and fudgy. While I haven’t tried any subs, you might be able to use another nut/seed butter if you don’t like peanut butter or you are allergic to it.
  • Pure Maple Syrup – The pure maple syrup is necessary to add extra sweetness to the base of your brownies. It is one of my favorite ingredients to use in baked goods, and these chocolate brownies are no exception.
  • Nut Milk – The nut milk is the final ingredient you will need to make these vegan chocolate flourless brownies from scratch. The nut milk helps your brownie batter achieve the right consistency and it also adds creaminess to the batter. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk, but you can use whichever nut milk you have on hand or prefer.
