Before I went vegan, I used to love cherry chocolate chunk ice cream, and this recipe is super reminiscent in both texture and taste. One of the things I love most about creating recipes for you guys is that I get to share vegan versions of traditionally non-vegan recipes. You really can veganize just about anything nowadays, which makes it easier than ever to incorporate more plant based recipes into your diet in some capacity.

I also love that this recipe requires no fancy equipment such as an ice cream maker. A simple high speed blender or food processor (my personal preference!) will work just fine. I use my KitchenAid miniature food processor that I bought before I headed off to college over five years ago. It is still going strong and it makes the thickest, creamiest vegan ice cream.

I picked mine up at Trader Joe’s, and they are absolutely delicious. They add that classic cherry flavor to this recipe. When combined with the frozen banana, you get a super thick and creamy ice cream base.
  • Vegan Dark Chocolate Chips – The dark chocolate chips are a tasty add-in for this vegan ice cream. I absolutely love the combination of fruit and dark chocolate, especially cherries or strawberries with dark chocolate. I used Enjoy Life Vegan Dark Chocolate Morsels, but you can use whichever kind you like best.
