Cherry Ice Cream With Chocolate Chips
Good morning friends! Today, I am so excited to share a simple and delicious four ingredient ice cream recipe with all of you. You guys know how much I love my creamy vegan banana ice cream recipes, and this flavor combination is especially unique.
Before I went vegan, I used to love cherry chocolate chunk ice cream, and this recipe is super reminiscent in both texture and taste. One of the things I love most about creating recipes for you guys is that I get to share vegan versions of traditionally non-vegan recipes. You really can veganize just about anything nowadays, which makes it easier than ever to incorporate more plant based recipes into your diet in some capacity.
I also love that this recipe requires no fancy equipment such as an ice cream maker. A simple high speed blender or food processor (my personal preference!) will work just fine. I use my KitchenAid miniature food processor that I bought before I headed off to college over five years ago. It is still going strong and it makes the thickest, creamiest vegan ice cream.
Now, let’s go ahead and take a look at the logistics and list of ingredients you will need to make this cherry chocolate chip ice cream a smashing success!
What Is Cherry Ice Cream Made Of?
One of the most commonly asked questions is what exactly vegan cherry ice cream is made of. Well, there are many different recipes out there, but when it comes to making something quickly from scratch that requires no churning, banana ice cream is usually the way to go.
My variation of cherry chocolate chip ice cream starts with a base of frozen banana and cherries. The frozen banana is essential to ensure you end up with a super thick and creamy consistency. And of course, the cherries add that classic color and flavor to the ice cream.
How Do You Make Homemade Ice Cream in 5 Minutes?
Another common question is how to make homemade ice cream super fast (we’re talking 5 minutes or less). Again, the no churn method is key here. When you use frozen fruit and a splash of non-dairy milk for your vegan ice cream base, you can simply throw everything in a high speed blender or food processor and blend until smooth and creamy.
This method is way simpler and quicker than pulling out an ice cream maker, and you still get a thick, creamy, and flavorful result.
Now that we have gotten through some logistics, let’s dive into the homemade cherry ice cream ingredients list. Luckily, it is super short, simple, and budget friendly.
Cherry Chocolate Chip Ice Cream – Ingredients
- Frozen Bananas – The frozen bananas serve as the main base for this creamy vegan ice cream recipe. I like to chop my bananas up into smaller pieces and then store them in a reusable freezer bag. I find that smaller chunks blend more quickly and easily.
- Frozen Sweet Cherries – The frozen sweet cherries are the second essential ingredient you need to make this thick and creamy cherry chocolate chip ice cream recipe. I picked mine up at Trader Joe’s, and they are absolutely delicious. They add that classic cherry flavor to this recipe. When combined with the frozen banana, you get a super thick and creamy ice cream base.
- Vegan Dark Chocolate Chips – The dark chocolate chips are a tasty add-in for this vegan ice cream. I absolutely love the combination of fruit and dark chocolate, especially cherries or strawberries with dark chocolate. This ice cream recipe is no exception, and the dark chocolate chips add a ton of sweetness, flavor, and texture. I used Enjoy Life Vegan Dark Chocolate Morsels, but you can use whichever kind you like best.
- Nut Milk – The nut milk acts as the key liquid to aid blending and help everything come together. I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk, but you can use whichever nut milk you have on hand or enjoy most.
