Easy Vegan Avocado Toast

Good morning friends! Today, I am so excited to share my easy avocado toast recipe. Now, I know what you’re thinking – there isn’t much that goes into making avocado toast. While that is most definitely true, there are many different ways you can make avocado toast. Depending on the spices, toppings, and even the bread you use, you’ll end up with a very unique flavor combination.

Since I am a huge fan of avocado toast, I have spent a lot of time perfecting my own avocado toast recipe. So, I thought it would be fun to share my simple recipe with all of you. It certainly isn’t anything earth shattering, but it is truly delicious. Anyway, enough on that. Let’s go over a few quick things to note for this recipe. Then, we will dive into the full list of ingredients you will need to make this avocado toast recipe a smashing success.

What Can I Use Instead of Bread for Avocado Toast?

If you can’t (or don’t want to) use bread as the base for your avocado toast, there are a few other other options you can use as the base for your mashed avocado mixture. The first option is rice cakes. Rice cakes add a nice crunch and some extra saltiness to this recipe. If you don’t have any bread, a couple of rice cakes will work just fine. Alteratively, you can cut a sweet potato into thin slices and bake them until soft to use as the base for the avocado mixture. I call these “sweet potatoasts“. I have tried both of these options out, and they are absolutely delicious!

Now that we have covered a few quick things to note for this recipe, let’s dive into the list of ingredients you will need to make this delicious avocado toast.

Easy Vegan Avocado Toast – Ingredients

  • Sourdough Bread – The first ingredient you will need for this recipe is the bread of choice. I like fresh sourdough bread, but you can use whichever kind you prefer or have on hand. If you want your toast to be on the crunchier side, make sure to use a firmer bread with a hard crust (such as fresh sourdough).
  • Avocado – The next ingredient you will need for this recipe is the ripe avocado. This ingredient will provide the toast with most of the flavor and richness. You want to use an avocado that is soft to the touch, but not too mushy. If it is mushy and brown inside, it won’t taste very good. On the other hand, if it isn’t ripe, it will be difficult to mash and, again, won’t taste very good. So, try your best to find an avocado that is perfectly ripe for optimal flavor and texture.
  • Nutritional Yeast Seasoning – The nutritional yeast seasoning adds a slight nutty/cheesy flavor as well as a source of vitamin B12 to the avocado toast.
  • Garlic Powder – The garlic powder adds some nice garlic flavor to this avocado toast.
  • Onion Powder – The onion powder adds even more flavor to this recipe. It pairs really nicely with the avocado as well as the other spices used in this recipe.
  • Tomato – The fresh tomato slices add flavor and texture to this avocado toast. They are the perfect topping for the toast.
  • Everything But The Bagel Seasoning – The everything but the bagel seasoning adds some saltiness and flavor to this recipe. It is one of my favorite seasonings to use on top of savory recipes such as this one.
  • Red Pepper Flakes – The red pepper flakes at a little bit of spiciness to this avocado toast. A little bit goes a long way with this spice. Of course, you could omit this ingredient completely if you don’t like spicy foods.

I hope you all love this simple and delicious avocado toast recipe. It is the perfect one to make for breakfast when you want something quick and easy. I also love to do a combo of sweet and savory toast for breakfast sometimes (one piece of avocado toast and one piece of peanut butter and jelly toast). That way, I get something sweet and something savory in the morning. Anway, that’s it for this post.
