Vegan Essentials Shopping List
Good morning friends! Today, I am so excited to share my vegan essentials shopping list with all of you today. This list includes all of my favorite plant based ingredients that I use to create easy, nutrient dense, and budget friendly vegan recipes. These are recipes that anyone and everyone can enjoy. Whether you are new to plant based eating or a vegan veteran, I hope you find this grocery list helpful in some way.
The overall goal of this post is to share some cost effective vegan food staples that I like to keep on hand to cook and bake with. So, without further ado, let’s dive right into my ultimate vegan essentials shopping list.
Vegan Essentials Shopping List – Pantry Goods
I am going to start off with the dry, shelf stable goods that I like to keep stocked in my pantry. These are essentials that I purchase quite often. One of the top ways that I save money on these foods is by purchasing them in larger quantities. While I do have to spend more money up front, I pay less money per ounce, which saves me money in the long run. Plus, I eat some of these pantry staples every day (like the oats, chia seeds, hemp hearts, flaxseed, etc.), so I have no issues going through the large bags of these pantry staples that I purchase before they expire. Anyway, enough on that. Let’s go through the list of vegan pantry staples that I buy most often.
My Vegan Pantry Goods List:
- Rolled or Quick Cooking Oats
- Creamy or Crunchy Peanut Butter (depending on what I’m in the mood for)
- Creamy Almond Butter
- Raw Nuts (I usually go for cashews, walnuts, or almonds)
- Chia Seeds
- Hemp Hearts
- Ground Flaxseed
- Pumpkin Seeds
- Canned Pumpkin
- Canned Diced Tomatoes
- Canned Beans (I like black beans, kidney beans, pinto beans, refried beans, and chickpeas)
- Nutritional Yeast Seasoning
- Liquid Aminos
- Pasta (I like whole wheat, red lentil, and chickpea pasta)
- Coconut Flour
- PBFit (Peanut Flour)
- Orgain Vegan Chocolate Protein Powder
- Pure Maple Syrup
- Medjool Dates
- Unsweetened Applesauce
- Dark Chocolate
- Vegetable broth
- Dry Lentils
- Dry Quinoa
- Bagged Ground Coffee (I like to get a bag of decaf and regular)
- Cereal (I like Joe’s O’s and granola)
- Bread (I love fresh sourdough)
While this list is pretty comprehensive, I did omit a few items that I don’t have to buy often, such as baking soda, baking powder, cocoa powder, spices, condiments, etc. Now that we have covered the dry goods, let’s go through my list of produce essentials.
Vegan Essentials Shopping List – Produce
Next up is all of the produce I like to stock up on. I am going to include the key produce items that I buy regularly (about once every one to two weeks).
My Vegan Produce List:
- Baby Carrots
- Bell Peppers
- Spinach/Leafy Greens
- Yellow Onions
- Potatoes
- Sweet Potatoes
- Zucchini
- Garlic
- Frozen Broccoli
- Avocados
- Tomatoes
- Bananas
- Apples (I buy these most often in the fall since they are in-season)
- Fresh Lemons/Limes
- Frozen Strawberries
- Frozen Blueberries
These are the main produce staples that I buy most often. I like to purchase my frozen fruits/veggies in large bags so that I can save some money (and I don’t have to re-buy them as often).
Vegan Essentials Shopping List – Refrigerated
Next, I have my list of refrigerated vegan food staples. These are items that I purchase every one to two weeks. I use these up quickly because they don’t stay good for near as long as the pantry food staples.
My Vegan Refrigerated List:
- Almond Milk
- Tofu
- Tortillas (I like whole wheat tortillas)
- Fresh Salsa
- Hummus
I know that the refrigerated food list is quite short, but it really does include everything I need. Once in a while, I will buy some pricier items like vegan cheese just to mix things up a bit. And with the refrigerated list, my ultimate vegan essentials grocery list is complete!
Vegan Essential Grocery List – Final Thoughts
As you can tell, eating vegan doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated. I maintained a very tight grocery budget in college while eating a plant based diet. With a bit of planning, I was able to make it work. Anyway, that’s it for this post. I hope you found it helpful. As per usual, I will be back with more content very soon.
