Whole Wheat Vegan Graham Crackers
Good morning everyone! Today’s post is inspired by one of my favorite summer treats, s’mores. While I really love s’mores, it is hard to find vegan graham crackers that are made without honey.
So, I decided to make my own version. These graham crackers are completely vegan and made with simple ingredients. They not only taste great with no toppings, but they are also delicious with vegan marshmallows and dark chocolate smashed between them.
These graham crackers are the perfect treat to make for your family and friends. If you plan on having a summer bonfire or going camping, you have to make this recipe and bring the crackers along with you to use for s’mores. Now, let’s get into the full ingredients list of things you will need to make this recipe.
Whole Wheat Vegan Graham Crackers – Ingredients
- Whole Wheat Flour – As per usual, I used Bob’s Red Mill whole wheat pastry flour for this recipe. This will be the base of our crackers, so we need a nice high quality flour to get us started. It will be combined with the other ingredients to form the perfect graham cracker dough.
- Sweetness – Without a little bit of sweetness, this would be closer to a bread recipe. That’s not what we are going for here. But, a little bit goes a long way. We will use a little bit Truvia cane sugar blend for the recipe to give the crackers a nice bit of sweetness.
After all, you will probably be layering gooey marshmallows and chocolate between them anyway, and that alone would sweeten them right up.
- Salt + Baking Powder – These ingredients are pretty self explanatory, and standard for most of my baked goods. The salt truly does make a difference. I love the sweet and salty combination in this graham cracker recipe.
- Cinnamon – Cinnamon is probably my favorite spice. I put it on just about everything sweet that I eat – toast, pancakes, oatmeal, you name it. I love the little kick it adds to baked goods as well, which is why we are using it here.
I remember when I was little, my parents used to buy the cinnamon sugar flavored graham crackers. I would let them sit in a glass of milk until they got soggy, and then devour them. Who else likes soggy cereal/graham crackers? Either way, the cinnamon works perfectly in this recipe!
- Coconut Oil – The coconut oil will give the crackers some added richness and moistness. Make sure to heat it in the microwave if it isn’t already a liquid. I live in a climate that gets very cold in the winter, so during that time my coconut oil always solidifies.
Then, in the summer, it’s pure liquid, and so it’s actually ready to use without the extra step of microwaving it. Keep in mind that you want to measure it out after you microwave it.
- Pure Maple Syrup – The pure maple syrup in this recipe acts as the source of unrefined sugar. It adds stickiness, moisture, and flavor. Pure maple syrup is the only way to go for this recipe. Keep in mind, it is very sweet, so a little goes a long way here.
- Nut Milk – I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk for this step. You can use whichever nut milk you have on hand or enjoy most.

- In a small bowl, mix together the nut milk, coconut oil, and maple syrup.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry, and mix together until a dough forms.
- Preheat the oven to 375° F.
- Roll your dough out on a sheet of parchment paper in a thin layer (about 1/16th – 1/8th inch thick).
- Cut the dough into rectangular graham crackers with a sharp knife or cookie cutter.
- Poke holes in your crackers with a toothpick to give them a traditional graham cracker look.
- Transfer your parchment paper containing your graham crackers onto a baking sheet.
- Bake the graham crackers for 15 – 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Keep a close eye on them so they don't burn. The thicker your crackers are, the longer they will take to bake.

Notes
As you can tell, this recipe is straight forward and incredibly simple. I tried to make the process as streamlined as possible so that even new bakers can make this recipe with ease. The dough is very easy to make, and the graham crackers come out with so much flavor.
I love dipping these graham crackers in peanut butter, dessert hummus, or soaking them in some milk for a special treat. They are an awesome snack to take with you on the go and they definitely don’t last long. I can’t wait for you to try them out! Leave me a comment letting me know what recipe you want to see next.
Sending happiness & light your way!
